Metamorphosis in the Melkweg

Metamorphosis is the exposition by photographer Lois Cohen and stylist Indiane Roma Voss that is on display in the Melkweg. Their work will be on display from the 19th of May until the 10th of June. In this exposition the two have taken twelve female figures from pop-culture and they’ve reconstructed them. This results in interesting work portraying strong, independent women who truly resonate in today’s society.

About Metamorphosis in the Melkweg

Cohen and Voss worked together before on a project named “Local Angels”. During this project they portrait extravagant models in the most colorful ways. They both liked this partnership so much that they decided to team up again for Metamorphosis, their graduation project. Without shying away from any controversy, they depict twelve female icons from religion to pop culture in their own personal way. Resulting in diverse, cogent archetypes of contemporary women. Cohen and Voss chose women who were known in history for their extraordinary beauty or who were presented in a wrong stereotype manner and adapt them to their modern ideal.
