EYE was Amsterdam’s first major cultural institution to make the leap over the River IJ and by doing so, is helping to strengthen ties between Amsterdam Noord and the rest of the city. The eye-catching building boasts state-of-the-art facilities including 1,200 square metres of exhibition space and four cinemas with a total of 640 seats. EYE Film is the only museum in the Netherlands that focuses exclusively on film and moving image. The institute shows film in all its facets: as art, cultural heritage, as a source of information and of course, enjoyment. The first exhibition to be held in the museum is titled Found Footage: Cinema Exposed. The exhibition shows how filmmakers and artists create new works by reusing found film.
