ARTZUID: Amsterdam Sculpture Biennial to start again in May
This spring and summer, from May 19 to September 24, Amsterdam Zuid will once again be the focus of the ARTZUID sculpture biennial. The green avenues of Apollolaan, Minervalaan and Churchillaan will be the stage for extraordinary works of art by internationally renowned artists.
For the 8th edition of the Amsterdam Sculpture Biennial, curator Jasper Krabbé selected 50 works of art by internationally renowned artists in combination with works by up-and-coming talent. Once started as a graffiti artist, Krabbé wants to appeal to young people in particular with a contemporary Street Power exhibition. Under the title Transfer, the world in motion, 50 artworks and installations are selected that convey social commitment in the tradition of iconic art movements from the 1960s and after.
2.5-km-long experience exhibition
The heart of the 2.5-km-long experience exhibition is in Berlage’s monumental Plan Zuid with its leafy Apollolaan and Minervalaan. The green space here will soon feature theatrical displays of modern and contemporary figurative sculptures interspersed with interactive spatial installations.
