Are you ready for the last weekend of 2018?! We’ve got another Amsterdam Weekend Guide for you with festive events, the best places to eat and not to miss out on things to do. Make it a good one!

Last chance: Amsterdamse Winterparadijs
Until 30 December you can enjoy the biggest Winter Wonderland in the Netherlands: The Amsterdamse Winterparadijs (Amsterdam Winter Paradise ) Although Christmas is now officially over, you can still enjoy the holiday spirit at this huge festival like event. There’s a ferry wheel, an in- and outdoor ice-skating rink, a movie theater showing Christmas classics and lots of live entertainment. All across the venue food stands and restaurants offer delicious treats and beverages. Warm your hands to some hot chocolate and roast marshmallows by the bomb fire. At night the place turns into one big party with local artists performing and DJ’s playing the best tunes. If you’re looking for an amazing experience to end your year with, this is the place to be!

Spice it up: Tango Train
Ready to spice it up a bit? From 26 December to January 1st, Tango Train will bring you the best of what the Amsterdam Tango scene has to offer. Their program consists of several performances and activities at 8 different locations in town. Both national and international artists will make their way to Amsterdam to give you incredible shows. Have a look at their website for the full program.

Winter Parade
The Winter Parade is another one to visit if you’re still in Christmas spirit mode. On 28 and 29 December you’ll be able to visit this magical dinner show, with this years theme being The Christmas Carol. You’ll be seated at a 120 meter-long table while enjoying a show by acrobats, actors and musicians. The table is divided into four sections, each in a different languages. Humor, excitement and delicious food all come together during this fun experience. Prepare to be amazed!
Het Grote Winter Festijn
One of the best R&B club nights of the year will take place on 28 December at the WesterUnie located Amsterdam West. Het Grote Winter Festijn offers you 2 areas in total winter theme with local DJ’s playing the finest R&B, Dancehall and Hip Hop tunes. But they didn’t forget the rest. Doing it healthy: Poké Bowls
Had a little too much food during Christmas and want to tone it down a bit until NYE? Let’s get healthy with the most ordered dish in 2018: the Poké Bowl. The Poké Bowl is often described as sushi in a bowl, but actually originates from Hawaï. The best part about it is that you can top them with anything you like, from fresh salmon or tuna to all types of vegetables and crunchy nori chips. We recently made a list of the 10 best places in Amsterdam to get this delicious dish. According to locals the #1 in Amsterdam is Temakery, located near the Albert Cuyp Market. The perfect spot to drop in for take-away or to sit down and enjoy a healthy lunch or dinner after a day of shopping and sightseeing!
Keihard at Paradiso
Lover of techno? This one’s for you. On Saturday 29 December Paradiso will be the venue for Keihard (translation: Rock hard). But there’s something special about this club night: it’s a silent disco with an amazing light show. Up on entering the club you’ll get a headphone on which you can switch from DJ to DJ. They play anything from raw techno to house and 90’s rave classics. So if you’re not feeling the vibes at a certain point, you can choose another channel on your headphones so you’ll be able to dance to the songs you like all night long!

Sundays at Meneer Nieges
What better way to spend a Sunday than with food, family & friends. Sundays at Meneer Nieges provides the perfect atmosphere for such an afternoon or evening. Their all day brunch doesn’t really end until well after 5 p.m. with delicious dishes and incredible tasty cocktails and wines. Play a game, enjoy the music and relax. Friends, family, dogs and kids; Everyone is welcome at Meneer Nieges. You can dress up, or leave your sweatpants on. It’s up to you!
Swap Till you drop!
On Sunday 30 December Paper Fetish will host a Swap Till You Drop morning. To avoid waste and save some money, you can drop in to swap the books and clothing you’re not using anymore for some new pre-used items. Get swapping while enjoying a cup of coffee and sweets. All items that are left after the event are given to a charity for refugees. It’s always a good moment to do good, right?!
