It’s time for a new Amsterdam Weekend Guide. We’ve gathered the most fun events, new hotspots to visit and things to do this weekend. So, don’t worry about missing out on anything. Enjoy!

Bar Kantoor weekend guide amsterdam

Campagne breakfast at Bar Kantoor

From Thursday 27 to Sunday 30 September Bar Kantoor will make sure you start your weekend right: with a champagne breakfast, celebrating their brand new breakfast menu. Breakfast starts at 07:00 and ends at 11:00. Ideal as a date with your lover or friends, or as a cure for your hangover. On Sunday, the week will be festively closed and Bar Kantoor will continue until 16:00 for brunch with live music. It is never too early for champagne, right?

Bar Kantoor is on the same terrain as Amsterdam Wine Festival, another one of our weekend tips following below. So if you’re in for a full day of wining and dining, visit them both!

National Restaurant Week

A 3-course menu for €27,50 in some of the best restaurants in Amsterdam? During the National Restaurant Week it’s possible. New hotspots, undiscovered gems and Michelin Star restaurants. If you want to discover the best culinary places in Amsterdam without spending a lot of money, this is your chance!

Over 77 restaurants in Amsterdam participate in the National Restaurant Week. Try out the French cuisine at Bluespoon located in the fairytale Andaz hotel or at restaurant Het Bosch. ARC. By Lute is one of our favorites on the list but there is much more to discover. Visit the website for an overview of the participating restaurants.

Museum plein polo

The third edition of Museumplein Polo Amsterdam will take place from Friday 28 until Sunday 30 September. The Museum Square Polo Event will take place right in the artsy heart of Amsterdam, right next to the Van Gogh Museum, the Stedelijk Museum and the Rijksmuseum. A truly unique location to enjoy this beautiful sports event where six international polo teams will participate.

Polo players and their Grooms from all parts of the world come to Amsterdam to compete for three days. During the event not only the polo will be discussed, but there will also be several demonstrations from other disciplines of the sport. Caterer Famous Flavors, together with a few renowned Amsterdam chefs, will be responsible for the culinary care of the event.

Dive into Japanese culture at the new exhibition Cool Japan

From Friday September 28 on, the new exhibition Cool Japan will be shown in De Tropenmuseum. Dive into contemporary art as well as long cherished Japanese tradition. Highlights from the Tropenmuseum’s world-famous Japan collection will be showcased, from old masters to contemporary animators and illustrators. It’s an eye-catching experience for long fans and new comers interested in the intriguing Japanese culture.

Cool Japan offers enough for a full day of entertainment.  Browse through an immense collection of comic books or play your best game on one of the Japanese arcade machines. From extraordinary kawaii (cute) fashion from the streets of Tokyo to Hello Kitty, Samurai and well-known Japanese horror. Cool Japan is a fascinating exhibition for young and old!

Amsterdam Wine Festival

From 28 to 30 September food and wine lovers will unite at Amsterdam Wine Festival at the Westergasfabriek. During this fall edition the harvest of the Northern Hemisphere will be celebrated with over 300 different wines. France, Spain, Italy as well as the United States, Germany and Austria will be represented.  A full day of tasty amusement for beginners and connoisseurs!

Where there is wine, there should be food. Amsterdam Wine Festival works with the best chefs and restaurants in town to ensure delicious food and wine pairings. To make the festival even more fun numerous live performances and workshops will take place. Learn more about the world of wines at a masterclass and test your knowledge in a quiz. End the night with a little dance to live music and records by the DJs.

 Strand Zuid

End the summer with Bierborrel #4 at Strandzuid 

Strandzuid is closing the summer season with their last Bierborrel party. Expect a lot of fun activities and drinks flowing. Get your groove on at the silent disco, play beer pong and table soccer with your friends and dance the night away on all the hits of past summer. 

Wynwood Festival

On Saturday 29 September one of the last out (and in)door music festivals will take place at Thuishaven Amsterdam. Wynwood festival will bring you an extensive music line-up, street art and food. They have five stages playing everything from R&B to House and Disco. Best thing: The Michael Jackson Café, only playing hits from the King of Pop.  Dance through the day while enjoying delicious street food and cool art from both local and international artist.

Supreme Brunch at Izakaya Asian Kitchen & Bar

The legendary Supreme brunch at Izakaya Asian Kitchen & Bar returns on Sunday September 30. What better way to spend your Sunday than with an extravagant brunch and cocktails at one of the best Asian restaurants in Amsterdam. They’ll take care of mouthwatering dishes and live entertainment, with an after-brunch party from 14:30 on. Bring your best mood and you’ll be in for a well-spend culinary afternoon!

Uniqlo Store amsterdam 2018

New spot to shop: Uniqlo

Uniqlo finally arrived in town! Amsterdam has a large offering when it comes to fashion designer stores and retail chains but there was one important player missing from the cities fashion assortment. In the heart of the city center on the Kalverstraat 11, the biggest Uniqlo store in the Benelux will open its doors on September 28.

The garments from Uniqlo are based on Japanese values such as simplicity, quality and durability. They are designed in and for a contemporary look and with such modern elegance that they are the building blocks of everyone’s individual style.
