Amsterdam Light Festival 2018-2019

Thursday 29 November marks the start of the enchanting Amsterdam Light Festival 2018-2019. The city center will light up with 30 artworks made by local and international artists. The best two ways to enjoy all there is to see are by taking a canal tour, giving you a unique view from the water or by following the official walking routes. Sculptures, projections and massive installations; you will be treated to a spectacle of light!

Art galore at Meesterlijk Design Fair

From 30 November to 2 December the Westergasfabriek will turn into Meesterlijk Design Fair. More than 120 fashion, interior and food designers will showcase and sell their works in shop-in-shops. Expect talented newcomers and seasoned craftsmen with contemporary and innovative designs. Besides art gazing, this is the perfect place to find yourself one of a kind pieces to buy right from the artist. Get to know the story behind the artworks and be amazed by all there is! From interior pieces to wearable items and unique jewelry.

Happy Oyster Hour at The Good Companion: 1 December

The Good Companion is one of the restaurants of our Best Seafood in Amsterdam list, and for a good reason. If you’re a seafood enthusiast and especially fish & chips, this is the place to be. They even have a vegetarian option: Tofush & Chips. This December, they host Oyster Happy Hours every Saturday afternoon from 3.00 p.m., serving oysters for €1 a piece. A glass of white wine with that and enjoy!

80s Film Festival at FC Hyena

80’s kids are you ready? Together with Ton Ton Club, FC Hyena will show classic 80s movies like The Never Ending Story and Back to the Future during their 80s Film Festival. On 1 December from 3:00 p.m. on you’ll be able to do a movie marathon or enjoy one of the movies. They even have arcade games and with an afterparty from 11:00 p.m. on. 1 December Salsa Saturday at Bar Botanique

Bar Botanique is probably the greenest bar in town, bringing tropical urban jungle vibes to Amsterdam.  On Saturday 1 they’ll turn up the heat with a Salsa Saturday Winter Special. You can drop in at 10:30 p.m. for a mini Salsa workshop or from 10:45 for dancing and maybe even some flirting. So put on your best outfit and prepare for some good vibes!

Boozy Brunch at Persijn

Sundays are for brunches, right?! On 2 December Dutch Eatery Persijn teamed up with Ketel One Vodka for their Boozy Brunch. Between 12:00 and 3:00 p.m. you can indulge in a bottomless brunch with all the dishes from the breakfast menu. A few options are Pancakes, Eggs any style and even oysters! For anyone fancying something stronger than coffee, they’ll set up a cocktail bar with Bloody Mary’s and Espresso Martini’s. Everything is included in the price, so you can go all the way!

Funky Sinterklaas Market

Before the Christmas season starts in Amsterdam, they have a holiday on 5 December that is called Sinterklaas. On Sunday 2 December you can get. To know all about this Dutch tradition at the Funky Sinterklaas Market from 12:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the Westergasfabriek. Expect there to be live entertainment like music and theater, a large selection of food & drinks and lots of shopping stands. If you’re looking for a fun way to spend your Sunday afternoon with the whole family, this is the place to be.

Wether you’re an experienced digger or a beginner, this is the place to be on Sunday 2 December if you’re looking for some good ol’ vinyl records. The afternoon will be filled with live music, beers and of course, an amazing selection of affordable vinyl gems by record labels and shops from all over town. At the Good Music Vinyl Market you’ll find anything from jazz to soul and from house to disco!
