It’s time for a new Amsterdam Weekend Guide. We’ve gathered the most fun events, new hotspots to visit and things to do this weekend. So, don’t worry about missing out on anything. Enjoy!

Beckers Vegetaria pop-up Snackbar

Oh how the Dutchies love their snacks. Bitterballen, Frikadellen, Kaassoufflés and Kroketten. Sounds unfamiliar? That’s probably because these are typical Dutch fried snacks. All the more reason for you to try them. But there’s something special coming! One of Hollands most known snack brands will launch a range of vegetarian versions of these typical Dutch treats with a pop-up snackbar. From 4 until 7 October the Beckers Vegetaria is open for business, serving all of the above and more. All vegetarian of course, and all for the price of just 1 euro.

The Vegetaria is open between 12:00 and 19:00 on the Nieuwezijds Kolk 25.

Sushi & Schubert by the Dutch Philharmonic Orchestra

Sushi & Schubert promises an evening of wonderful music and good food. On Friday 5 October from 6 p.m. on you can expect two concerts with dinner in between or after. A quintet from The Dutch Philharmonic Orchestra will play the famous String quintet in C and Cellist Carin Nelson will perform the wonderful Arpeggione Sonata together with pianist Jelger Blanken. For € 32.50 you will get two concerts , a delicious dinner at Sushilee and three beverages. Visit the website for the program and tickets.

Discover Japanese Culture at Camera Japan 

At Camera Japan a total of 25 different Japanese films with English subtitles will be showcased. The focus of the festival is film but there is much more to discover. Fashion, art, music and dance are just a few of the other themes. Take part in a sake tasting or join in on the Matcha workshop and learn all about the popular green powdered tea. Authentic Japanese cuisine will make the experience complete!

On Friday 5 October restaurant Bardak will kick off the weekend with a party. During Fridak you can get shots for just €2,50 and their signature cocktail for €7,00. To get you through the night, they’ll serve a selection of Tel Aviv’s favorite snacks. And of course it wouldn’t be a party without music! A DJ will be playing the funkiest tunes for you to groove on.

The Supperclub has a new exiting club night in store for you on Friday 5 October. Cirqued brings a darker and sexier side to Amsterdam, so prepare for an extravagant and unpredictable night out. Socialites gather and start the weekend off right!

Shop till you drop at the IJ-Hallen Amsterdam

It’s time for the biggest flea market in Europe this weekend! At the IJ-Hallen every vintage and bargain loving heart will start to beat a little faster. The indoor market has over 500 stalls with everything from fashion to interior and gadgets. Find a designer piece for under €50 or spice up your interior with a unique vintage find. Food and beverage stands will make sure you can enjoy a full day shopping spree.

New Exhibition in Amsterdam’s oldest building: More oude kerk

The newest exhibition at Amsterdam’s Oldest building the Oude Kerk will showcase from 5 October on. More Oude Kerk presents long-hidden treasures with the opening of seven historical side rooms that were closed off to visitors before. After doing research 2016 into paintings and objects at the Oude Kerk they discovered that many of the hidden artifacts were well worth showing. More Oude Kerk showcases historical and contemporary art from both Oude Kerk collection pieces as well as international masterpieces on loan.

Just open: La Favela Restaurant & Club

The newest edition to the city centre is a restaurant by day and club by night. La Favela is a place to celebrate freedom, music and soul food in the company of good friends. The interior inspired by Rio De Janeiro has an abundance of color, with objects that all have history and a story to tell.  From this month on they welcome you for lunch, dinner and drinks. And, if you’re up for it, some wild parties on the weekends.

Pickle Masterclass at No Food Waste restaurant Instock

Instock is a restaurant lowering the food waste by turning surplus products from supermarkets and other producers into delicious meals. Homemade apricot compote, or traditional Korean kimchi are just two examples of delicious dishes that preservation techniques are used for. During their Instock Cooking Masterclasses the chef will teach you to preserve food at a whole new level. This edition will focus on the conservation techniques pickling and fermenting. All levels of home cooks are welcome to enjoy this culinary afternoon from 2.00 – 4.00 p.m.
