Vegan restaurant Meatless District
Meatless District has a location on the west part of town and in the bustling de Pijp area. This vegan restaurant makes for a perfect spot to have guilt-free and delicious lunch, dinner and drinks. A must try for lunch is the Sunshine Bowl with teriyaki noodles, smoked tofu, kimchi, pickled daikon and sugar snaps. During the evening they serve some of the lunch dishes as well as a couple of delightful other options. The Asparagus Risotto with peas and parmesan crunch with Creme Brulée after will make for a perfect vegan dining experience. Both are finger licking good! On weekends Meatless district is also open for some amazing breakfast dishes. Their BLT Sandwich or a slice of daily changing pie will have you start your day the right way.
Mr. & Mrs. Watson Amsterdam
Mr. & Mrs. Watson is a place for plant-based food lovers and cheese addicts. This restaurant is known and awarded for their home-made vegan cheeses, including cashew brie and blue roque fort. Their menu is filled with amazingly tasteful dishes for lunch and dinner like Grilled Cheese sandwiches, Sloppy Cheese Steak Bun and a Chocolate Brownie. Even die hard carnivores will second guess their opinion about vegan food after having eaten at Mr. & Mrs. Watson. Definitely don’t miss out on the creamy Cashew Fondue with roasted vegetables, Hasselback potato and bread. Not to mention the cheesy Loaded Nacho’s. Jum!
Dophert is a feel good restaurant open from early until late. Enjoy a healthy breakfast or lunch and on Thursday, Friday and Saturday delightful dinner. Everything they serve is 100% plant based and made from scratch. A few favorites on the menu are the Club Sandwich and the Cream Cheese Bagel. Or, if you fancy something sweet, try the amazing Pancakes. For dinner both vegans and meat lovers will be amazed by their burger with one of their huge milkshakes. Vegan Junkfood Bar Amsterdam
Whoever says Vegan food is too healthy, clearly doesn’t know what they’re talking about. Meet the Vegan Junkfood Bar. A place for anyone craving junk food but at the same time want to keep it plant-based. The mouthwatering dishes on their menu include huge stacked Burgers, Shawarma, battered onion rings and more. This place is known to even convince die-hard carnivores to give vegan food a try more often. Their food is that good!
Jackson Dubois Vegan menu
By night time lunch café Esprit turns into Jackson Dubois, a stylish restaurant and bar in the city center of Amsterdam serving beautiful dishes, champagnes, craft beers and cocktails. Their menu is a mix of flavors from all around the world. Next to their “regular” menu they have a special raw food and vegan menu with mouthwatering creative dishes. We highly recommend the Quinoa Nasi Goreng with a mix of vegetables and peanut Tamari dressing and the Lasagna with pumpkin, zucchini, sweet potato and soya béchamel sauce. More to love: they serve vegan lemon cheesecake and wine!
The Meets | the best vegan restaurant?
The Meets located in De Pijp area often comes up as one of the best vegan restaurants in Amsterdam. Their chef prepares all-day dishes with fresh locally sourced products. All free from refined sugars and other additives. They follow the 80/20 rule: 80% plant-based, 20% animal-based products. This will make it easier on all the vegans with a non-plant-based eater as a partner. Two favorites are the Falafel Hummus Wrap and the Mexican Veggie Burger. They have a good selection of beers, wines and cocktails as well, so you can stay around after dinner for some drinks.
Guilt-free food at Healthy Belly
The new brunch spot Healthy Belly makes it a little easier for you to enjoy a good burger without having to feeling guilty about it. Their menu offers something for all moods, wether you’re a carnivore, vegetarian or vegan. Two favorites on the menu are the Vegan Banana Pancakes with Pecan nuts and Fresh Berries and the Vegan Chickpea/Lentil/Beetroot Burger with avocado, red onion and kale. Jum! The restaurants serves as a concept store as well, with unique gift items, healthy cookbooks and delicacies to take home with you. Not hungry but just looking for a caffeine break? They serve coffees with beans from Lot Sixty One, some of the best in town!
The Avocado Show
The Avocado Show is probably the most spoken about hotspot of Amsterdam. As their name already reveals, this breakfast and lunch restaurant is all about avocado’s. While their menu is not completely vegan, there is enough on there to choose from. How about the Mango Curry Tango, with hummus, mango and avocado or the Veg-O-Tato with grilled vegetables, spicy chipotle, guacamole and baked potatoes? Even if you’re with a mixed group of meat eaters, vegetarians and vegans, you will all be able to find something you like here.
Vegan pizza @ Pizza Heart Bar
Vegan Pizza? Yes please. Pizza Heart Bar makes eating out with a group of vegan and non-vegan friends a little easier. They serve delicious wood oven pizzas with a thin crispy crust for both plant-based eaters and those who are not. How about the Giusta with bell pepper, eggplant and walnuts or the Colori with sundried tomatoes, spinach and olives? Both topped with delicious vegan mozzarella!
Mana Mana is a Israeli eatery in De Pijp that has become a household name for the city’s vegan and vegetarian crowd. Ottolenghi fans will adore the flavors here! For lunch, there are a variety of generously topped hummus plates and salads, while dinner brings smoky aubergine dip, falafel, shashuka and the famous “psychedelic cauliflower” with tahini, lemon and garlic. We do advise you to make a reservation, since this small restaurant is known to be crowded on all days of the week.
Kebabi vegan restaurant
Kebabi is the first 100% plant-based kabab café in the city, serving (not so) guilty pleasures like döner, kapsalon and various finger foods. Their best seller is the kebab that tastes just as good, if not better, as the original one! You can go there for a quick bite or hang around with a beer and some snacks like Dutch bitterballen, cheese sticks and sticky sweet baklava.
Health Food Wall
Getting food at the Health Food Wall is an experience on its own. This spot at the Kinkerstraat has its very own food automat, serving freshly prepared guilt-free food right from the wall. Fast food done the healthy way. You also have the choice to sit down in the restaurant where the menu offers a variation of breakfast bowls, salads, juices and tasty sweets. Tip: The Black Rice Noodles with tempeh and a rainbow of vegetables.
SLA (meaning Salad) started in Amsterdam and is now its way to conquer the entire country. Don’t expect boring salads here, but large well-stocked portions with fresh flavors and home-made ingredients. You have the choice to pick any ingredient and create your own perfect salad or choose one of the chefs’ creations off the menu.
Ivy & Bros
Ivy & Bros is a cozy brunch spot located on the Amsterdam canals. What once started as a shop turned into a perfect place to escape the busy city center for a moment. Whether you’re a plant based eater, vegetarian or carnivore, they have something for all. Their menu is a wonderful selection of tasty dishes for breakfast and lunch. Fresh juices, gooey banana bread, stacked sandwiches and loaded healthy salads. The chef here knows what he’s doing and will surprise you with mouthwatering flavor combinations using the freshest ingredients.
