Christmas at Concertgebouw

It’s the most wonderful time of the year…. Christmas at Concertgebouw Amsterdam offers a varied program featuring the world’s best musicians, orchestras and conductors. Visit one of their Christmas concerts and enjoy the warm atmosphere at the Main Hall of the Dutch Royal Concerthall, known for it’s world class acoustics.

Classical Christmas

Wednesday 12 & Sunday 23 December 7:30 p.m. – 10:00 p.m.

On Wednesday 12 and Sunday 23 December, the world renowned Dutch Bach Choir & Orchestra will be joined by pianist Jan Vayne for a cheerful Classical Christmas concert. Enjoy the heart-warming concert, bringing the holiday spirit to all at the Concertgebouw’s Main Hall, well-known for its incredible acoustics and historical architecture.

La Petite Bande: Bach’s Christmas Oratorio

Sat 15 December 8:15 p.m. – 10:15 p.m.

With Christmas season comes Bach’s Christmas Oratorio. The performance will be conducted by Sigiswald Kuijken and performed by no other than the legendary baroque ensemble La Petite Bande. This promises to be a magical evening!

The Choir of St. John’s College Cambridge: Christmas Concert

Sunday 16 December 11:00 a.m. – 12.00

The iconic Choir of St. John’s College, Cambridge will perform Christmas carols from over five centuries. Expect wonderful compositions performed by what some may call the best choir of Cambridge. To make your experience at the Concertgebouw complete, you can enjoy a delicious champagne brunch at the restaurant after the concert. That’s what we call a Sunday afternoon well spend!

Classics at the Movies: Christmas Concert

Tuesday 18 December 8:15 p.m. – 10:15 p.m.

Lover of movies and music? This might be the concert of your dreams! The North West German Philharmonic will perform a concert with music from all favorite Christmas movies. This is your ticket to ‘Winter Wonderland’!

Dutch Philharmonic Orchestra: Christmas Concert

Saturday 22 December 8:15 p.m. – 9:55 p.m.

The Christmas Concert by the Dutch Philharmonic Orchestra promises to be a festive ending of the season. For years they have been bringing classical music to life at the highest level, while collaborating with international conductors and musicians. At this performance they will give a place of honor to the twenty-year-old trumpet player Lucienne Renaudin-Vary. It will be a concert both experienced concert-goers and first-timers will enjoy!

Christmas Eve Service

Monday 24 December 8:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m.

If you don’t have plans for Christmas evening yet, this is something for you. On Monday 24 December the Concertgebouw will hold a free Christmas Eve Service at their iconic Main Hall. Doors open at 7:30, with the service starting at 8:00 p.m. This promises to be a wonderful way to start the Holidays.

Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra: Christmas Matinee

Tuesday 25 December 2:15 p.m. – 3:45 p.m.

The Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra will be playing a heart-warming version of Tchaikovsky’s Christmas fairy tale The Nutcracker. Spend your afternoon with a musical journey to the Land of Sweets, with the Sugar Plum Fairy, the Mouse King and all others.

Christmas Concert: Weihnachten in Wien

Wednesday 26 December 2:15 p.m. – 4:30 p.m.

Weihnachten in Wien will take you on a trip from Amsterdam to Vienna for the afternoon. The Habsburgs Straussorkest will play beautiful Viennese classics like An der schönen blauen Donau (The Blue Danube) and the Vilja Song. To make it an even more special experience, the Orchestra is accompanied by dancers from the Charkov State Ballet throughout the concert.
