Dining at the Maritime Museum

During the Amsterdam Light Festival the Maritime Museum (het Scheepvaartmuseum) will open its doors for a very special experience. Under the beautiful dome at the “Open Pleyn” (the square at the entrance) a pop-up restaurant will open for four days (21 until 24 December).

Visitors can sit at one of the long tables at the courtyard during the four days that the pop-up restaurant is opened. The beautiful dome is lit with over a 1000 lights to create a truly beautiful sight. Ralph Dalhaus, the chef, created two meal options. You can enjoy a one course meal including one drink for €29,50 or a three course meal including drinks for €49,50.

Besides that visitors can enjoy a special tour of the museum or the newly opened virtual reality time travel “Dare to Discover on the VOC-schip ‘Amsterdam’. Admission to the museum is free during these evenings.

In the 17th century, Amsterdam was the world’s largest port, and the Netherlands was a powerful country with many trade routes. Much of Amsterdam’s history is related to the sea. To truly understand Amsterdam, you must understand its seafaring past. Visit the Scheepvaartmuseum to experience this history first hand and be prepared to see Amsterdam with a new set of eyes. The museum is a great experience for visitors of all ages and is a must-see for history fanatics.
