Perhaps the archetypal brown café, this Amsterdam institution, which started life as a distillery, has been pouring out tiny glasses of jenever for 348 years. A popular hang-out with the city’s cognoscenti, this National Monument features a standing-room-only space with stained glass windows and sawdust floors, a sit-down area with dark wood panelling and a large terrace.
