Hortus by Light

The city is getting darker, but that doesn’t mean that there is no light to be seen. De Hortus, the botanical gardens of Amsterdam, invite you for unique Hortus by Light evenings. The botanical gardens have longer opening hours so everyone can enjoy the lovely lights in De Hortus.

Magical nights during Hortus by Light

During the Hortus by Light you are able to enjoy the magically lit garden, a winter terrace with campfire and glüwein.

As soon as the night falls, a special illuminated path will show you the way into the gardens. Go and explore on your own or book a tour to learn more about the botanical garden by night.

Tours to show you the magic of the night

For everyone who wants to have the full botanical garden by night experience, there is a tour. During Hortus by Light a tour starts every day at 18:00. During this tour a guide will take you through the garden and show you how the plants and animals in the garden respond to nightfall. Entrance to Hortus by Light is €5,- when you want to take the tour it will cost an extra €2,50.

21, 22, 23 en 24 December,

27, 28, 29 en 30 December,

4, 5, 6 en 7 January 2018.

On these nights, the hortus will stay open until 22:00.
