In the Netherlands it has been a tradition for years now to dive into the new year on January 1st by taking a New Year’s Dive into the North Sea Ocean. The official event takes place at Scheveningen Beach, with over 10.000 participants every year. You can buy tickets for the festive occasion from 10:30 a.m. on and at 12:00 sharp the start signal will go off. Expect an amazingly cheerful atmosphere with live music and lots of comfort food & beverages to get you warm after the cold dive.
January 1st 2019 from 10:30 – Scheveningen Strand
If you don’t feel like traveling outside of Amsterdam, a smaller version of the event takes place at the Sloterplas. Bring your swimwear and start the new year on this unique refreshing way! Make sure you have some warm clothes with you for after the dive. Keep an eye on their Facebook page for more information.
January 1st 2019 from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. – Varkensbaai, Sloterplas
