What is outsider art?

Outsider Art is usually art by self-taught or naïve artists. They usually have no formal training or contacts with the mainstream art world. The term was first used by art critic Roger Cardinal to describe raw or rough art. This type of art has gained popularity over the years and is for you on display in the Outsider Art  Museum.

The museum is situated along the beautiful Amstel River only a short walk from Waterlooplein or the Royal Theater Carré.
