Established as one of the first brasseries in Amsterdam in 1949, Piet de Leeuw combines the cosiness of a pub (complete with original wooden floors, copper counter and gin bottles on the wall) with the culinary offerings of a steak restaurant. Piet de Leeuw promises “goede kwaliteit vlees zonder gedonder”- (good quality meat without the fuss). Ask for a beef steak or horse tenderloin with gravy or stroganoff or pepper sauce. We also recommend the smoked salmon on toast. Piet de Leeuw is located on a side street of Vijzelgracht minutes from the Heineken Brewery. The establishment attracts many day trippers, yuppies and students from nearby district De Pijp.
