Silence in the Oude Kerk

For ‘Silence in the Oude Kerk‘ the Oude Kerk is turned into a spectacular work of art by Giorgio Andreotta Calò, building on his art there are Silence concerts in July, August and September. The concerts start at 8:00 AM, making it the perfect serene start to your day in this hustling and bustling city.

Silence Concerts

6 July                  Hoge Koor

During this concert Jan Pieterszoon Sweelinck’s voicy le gay printemps’, composed for four voices, will sound through the church.

3 August            Sint-Sebastiaanskapel

A concert by composer and sound artist B.J. Nilsen in collaboration with Zeno van den Broek. For this concert, Nilsen and van den Broek use the micro-surface sound of the loud bell for an improvised electronic experience.

7  September     Doopkapel

Anastasis – Resurrection is the final concert with great contrasts. You hear the loud bells of the Oude Kerk in combination with the natural surroundings. The transept organ and the Vater-Müller organ, which is still under restoration, make themselves heard in a new composition by Claire M. Singer and Jacob Lekkerkerker.
