Officially recognized as the oldest café in Amsterdam, this former inn is also one of the city’s oldest wooden buildings. The story goes that sailors who used to stay here sometimes paid their bar tab by giving up their pet monkey (newly acquired in the Dutch East Indies). Today, you’ll still find plenty of monkey-themed memorabilia at this popular spot.
