Yamazato

Yamazato offers a moment of zen in the midst of the bustling the Pijp area. This traditional Japanese restaurant serves the finest small dishes of Kaiseki cuisine and is known to be one of the best Japanese restaurants in Amsterdam. Chef Masanori Tomikawa offers a pleasant introduction to Japanese local culture and culinary delights. Yamazato was the first Kaiseki restaurant outside of Japan to be included in the top of the Michelin Guide. The establishment – like the renown Restaurant Ciel Bleu – is located in five star Hotel Okura.

The standards of the kaiseki kitchen differ a lot from those of modern Japanese cuisine. The dishes, the tableware and the kimonos of the waitresses are all submerged with symbolism. At the sushi bar you can admire how skillful the sushi master’s work.
