Diamond Museum Amsterdam

Did you know Amsterdam’s history of diamond cutting goes all the way back to the early 1600s? The Diamond Museum, located on Museum Square, teaches you all you need to know about diamonds and how they entwine with the history of the city. From the formation of diamonds (which takes several billion years) to the polishing of the precious stones. See actual diamond cutters and goldsmiths turning diamonds into the most beautiful jewellery. The museum offers a permanent exhibition ‘Brilliant Beauties’ and a temporary show devoted to the crown, the symbol of royal power and worldly glory.

The museum shows diamonds in all shapes and sizes but the best part of the museum is the Diamond Experience, taking you into the heart of this precious stone. At the museum shop you can buy actual diamonds and other jewelry.
