Best Sushi Amsterdam

Sushi is the world’s favorite Japanese snack. The fish and rice dish has taken over the world in the last few years. With sushi restaurants, to-go sushi in our supermarkets and even sushi festivals that are popping up all over the city. But where can you get the best sushi in Amsterdam?

Well, to find that out you would have to eat at every sushi joint in the city. We know that is a lot of work, so we decided to do that for you. After many fancy sushi dinners and quick grab-and-go experiences we’ve learnt where they serve the best sushi in Amsterdam. Below you find our favorite places, in random order though, because it was too hard to rank them.

You can find Zushi in a 19th-century building along the Amstel. Walk in and experience their laid-back ambiance. Perfect to enjoy sushi with an intimate group of people. They have over 40 different kinds of sushi and you can either order them from the menu or wait and see what comes by on the conveyor belt. From the amazing Aburi Sake Nigiri of which the salmon has been marinated 24 hours in sake to the velvety, melt in your mouth Wagyu Beef from the grill, Zushi understands everyone’s unique taste.

In the center of Amsterdam devoted sushi-lovers can eat their (sushi)hearts out at Mojo. For a fixed price you can enjoy all the sushi you want or order sushi from their a la carte menu. They have all the traditional sushi on the menu, but their specials are very tasty as well. Our personal favorites are the spicy tuna tartar, the caviar hand roll and their rib-eye rolls.

 

Kyoto

Right at Central Station you can find Kyoto Sushi. Kyoto has been bringing Japanese food to Amsterdam since 1966. All their food is based on the recipes of the Japanese chef Kenji Osone. You can enjoy well-priced specials such as sushi bowls or meal sets that are around €10,-, but they also have regular sushi rolls and grill dishes.

Momo is the place to be in the city when you love sushi and cocktails! With their open kitchen you get a spectacular view of how the delicacies are being prepared. Next to sushi they also serve other Asian-oriented dishes, ceviches and tiraditos.

EN is the sushi and sake bar in Amsterdam. Here they have a menu that changes with the seasons, so every month they have some new surprises in store for you. Here you can also order a sake for every course that is paired perfectly with your sushi and other dishes. You can order a la carte or a 3, 5 or 7 course meal.

Ku Kitchen and Bar opened in 2014. This is the place to be for excellent Japanese cuisine. A bright green backlit bar, exposed brick walls and industrial workshop stools create a suitable setting for a modern Japanese restaurant that draws inspiration from Tokyo’s trendiest boroughs, reinterpreted for Amsterdam’s stylish set. Ku Kitchen specializes in non-traditional Japanese dishes, but they also serve the classics.

The Harbour Club is located at some amazing locations in Amsterdam. Here they serve great seafood and that means sushi too! This is the perfect place to hang out with friends that aren’t sushi lovers or to have an intimate dinner with sushi-loving friends.
