Well, to find that out you would have to eat at every sushi joint in the city. We know that is a lot of work, so we decided to do that for you. Below you find our favorite places, in random order though, because it was too hard to rank them.
You can find Zushi in a 19th-century building along the Amstel. Walk in and experience their laid-back ambiance. Perfect to enjoy sushi with an intimate group of people. They have over 40 different kinds of sushi and you can either order them from the menu or wait and see what comes by on the conveyor belt. From the amazing Aburi Sake Nigiri of which the salmon has been marinated 24 hours in sake to the velvety, melt in your mouth Wagyu Beef from the grill, Zushi understands everyone’s unique taste.
In the center of Amsterdam devoted sushi-lovers can eat their (sushi)hearts out at Mojo. For a fixed price you can enjoy all the sushi you want or order sushi from their a la carte menu. They have all the traditional sushi on the menu, but their specials are very tasty as well. Our personal favorites are the spicy tuna tartar, the caviar hand roll and their rib-eye rolls.
De Ruijterkade 42b
Right at Central Station you can find Kyoto Sushi. Kyoto has been bringing Japanese food to Amsterdam since 1966. All their food is based on the recipes of the Japanese chef Kenji Osone. You can enjoy well-priced specials such as sushi bowls or meal sets that are around €10,-, but they also have regular sushi rolls and grill dishes.
Momo is the place to be in the city when you love sushi and cocktails! With their open kitchen you get a spectacular view of how the delicacies are being prepared. Next to sushi they also serve other Asian-oriented dishes, ceviches and tiraditos.
In the middle of Amsterdam Oost you can fine Vijfnulfijf Kitchen Cafe. This is the ultimate hotspot for the best sushi and other Asian street food in town. Step inside and experience the Asian street food culture in Amsterdam.
EN is the sushi and sake bar in Amsterdam. Here they have a menu that changes with the seasons, so every month they have some new surprises in store for you. Here you can also order a sake for every course that is paired perfectly with your sushi and other dishes. You can order a la carte or a 3, 5 or 7 course meal.
Ku Kitchen and Bar opened in 2014. This is the place to be for excellent Japanese cuisine. A bright green backlit bar, exposed brick walls and industrial workshop stools create a suitable setting for a modern Japanese restaurant that draws inspiration from Tokyo’s trendiest boroughs, reinterpreted for Amsterdam’s stylish set. Ku Kitchen specializes in non-traditional Japanese dishes, but they also serve the classics.

Tanuki is inspired by traditional Japanese taverns and named after a folkloric raccoon figure with mystical powers. Chef Izakaya Tanuki offers authentic Japanese cuisine in a modern, stylish interior with Japanese touches. Here they serve lunch or dinner and on the menu you will find tasty, traditional Japanese dishes.
